Entry requirements

In order to meet the general entry requirements for first cycle studies you must have successfully completed upper secondary education and documented skills in English language and Added to that, you must have studied databases, systems development, and programming equivalent to D0019N Software development with Java, D0006N Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, and D0005N Databases II or equivalent courses.

The selection is based on 1-165 credits.



Course Aim
After the course, the student should be able to:
  • describe the concept of interaction design and principles for usability, user experience and user interface, within the subject information systems.
  • motivate the choice of development platform and framework for interactive systems
  • design, develop and present a solution in the form of a working prototype and approach on the chosen development platform. 


Contents
The course covers: 
  • knowledge of interaction design, concept and related areas;
  • principles of usability, user experience and user interface;
  • development of applications / prototypes on various technical platforms with different frameworks and design patterns. 

Realization
Each course occasion´s language and form is stated and appear on the course page on Luleå University of Technology's website.
During the course, students will work on a project assignment based on the chosen use case and technical platform. The course is given both on campus and at distance. Teaching consists of teacher-led lectures (on campus and web-based), and student-led seminars based on selected use cases, discussions and tutoring. For distance students, the course is completely online but with compulsory meetings.

Examination
If there is a decision on special educational support, in accordance with the Guideline Student's rights and obligations at Luleå University of Technology, an adapted or alternative form of examination can be provided.
Examination assignments in group 7.5 credits, (U / G / VG) deal with all course objectives and include oral and written presentation of project assignment.

Remarks
Technical Requirements: Access to a computer with microphone, web cam and permission to install software. Internet connection (minimum 0.5Mb/sec).
