Selection

The selection is based on final school grades or Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test.

Course Aim
After completing the course, students have basic understanding of the methods and theories of design interaction and interactive design. The student also have an understanding of how the work of a design mission with a focus on the interaction may look and operate, in relation to the further intelligence. Further, understand, apply and explain their basic knowledge, identifying a design problem, and compile and present a vision of a future design work.

The student should demonstrate
  • Basic understanding of the interaction role in visual communication.
  • Basic skills in graphic design for interactive situations, environments and media, as well as demonstrate an understanding of the different contexts, needs and opportunities in the communications and interface.
  • Basic understanding of the theoretical and technical opportunities, and constraints for field interaction.
  • Basic abilities to plan, articulate, and implement simple interactive graphic design production.

Contents
Course Content
  • Basic theory of design methods and communication with focus on the user, the user or group's needs; structural, understanding of room and haptics based on usability, ease of use.
  • Basic theory of visual design in the design of interaction and interactive media
  • Basic methods, processes and design exercises for interaction
  • Basic project in the area - organizing, planning and oral, written and visual presentation of results
  • Reflection on the basis of literature studies, lectures / seminars, design exercises and workshops made in workbook

The course includes at least one independent work in which the student applies and implements the theory and practice of a current project supported by the course tutor. Reflection on the basis of literature studies, lectures, seminars, workshops and design exercises conducted in the workbook. The project is presented orally, written and visually.

Realization
The course contains several elements which integrate all the theoretical, creative and professional perspectives. Instruction consists of lectures and literature studies lapped by independent work in visualization and supervision. Course participants practicing oral and written communication skills, and practice both independently and in collaboration with other planning and implement the project.

Examination
The course is examined through oral, written and visual presentations of credentials, reasoning, process and results, as shown below.

User-centered design, oral and written presentation:
  • basic understanding of the interaction role in visual communication.
  • basic skills in graphic design for interactive situations, environments and media, as well as demonstrating an understanding of the different contexts, needs and opportunities in the communications and interface.

Interactive design, oral and written presentation of project:
  • basic understanding of the interaction role in visual communication.
  • basic skills in graphic design for interactive situations, environments and media, as well as demonstrating an understanding of the different contexts, needs and opportunities in the communications and interface.
  • basic understanding of the theoretical and technical opportunities, and constraints for field interaction.
  • basic abilities to plan, articulate, and implement simple interactive graphic design production.

Reflection workbook:
  • basic understanding of the interaction role in visual communication.
  • basic skills in graphic design for interactive situations, environments and media, as well as demonstrating an understanding of the different contexts, needs and opportunities in the communications and interface.
  • basic understanding of the theoretical and technical opportunities, and constraints for field interaction.
  • basic abilities to plan, articulate, and implement simple interactive graphic design production.

Remarks
Students must register for the courses themselves, or contact ETS educational administration eduets@ltu.se,not later than three days after the quarter commences. Failure to do so can result in the place being lost. This rule also applies to students with a guaranteed place.
