This course provides knowledge about automation in the mining operation and underground construction industry as well as the latest development in the field such as applications of AI and machine learning.
The concept of Mine Automation will generally be presented, including mine communication, drilling automation, tunneling, underground and surface mine automation. After the completion of the course, students will have knowledge about human factors in automation, understand how operational data from mining equipment can be used in the mining process, have knowledge of automation of mining equipment, know how AI and machine learning concepts are used in mining automation, and have knowledge of indoor and outdoor navigation systems in mines.
The course is based on lectures and project assignments.
