The selection is based on 20-285 credits



Course Aim

  This course is a continuation of Music Performance - Jazz Musician 2 and aims for continued development of the set goals:

  • demonstrate an ability to demonstrate his/her artistic voice and identity as a practising jazz musician
  • demonstrate a broad historical and musical/practical knowledge of jazz music in general, or a comprehensive knowledge of his or her chosen genre/his or her chosen genre complex
  • demonstrate an ability to independently perform chosen jazz music with a clear voice of his or her own
  • be a knowledgeable, expressive and skilled musician within his or her genre/genre complex with great openness to new trends and development routes
  • have relevant knowledge of the music industry and an ability to work independently in working life and to be able to realise his or her own artistic projects. 

Contents

Based on each student’s unique background and own artistic goals, the course’s specific content will be individually tailored in consultation with the specialisation coordinator.

For the same reason, various components require varying forms of teaching (see example under implementation) as well as various forms of examination (also see under examination). 


Realization
Examples of forms of teaching: Private lessons, group lessons, ensemble play, lectures, seminars, workshops, recordings, concerts, own musical play, own projects.

Examination

In consultation with the specialisation coordinator, the student chooses among suitable formats of both continuous presentations in connection with the teaching and for final examination. Examples of such formats are oral, written and music presentations, recordings and concerts with a connection to the student’s individual plan.

For the grade of Pass (Godkänd), it is expected that the student has carried out and presented the assigned tasks, all in such a way that the intended course learning outcomes can be considered to be fulfilled.

For the grade of Pass with credit (Väl godkänd), it is expected that the student has fulfilled all requirements for the grade of Pass, and in addition, demonstrated a musical skill and originality from an artistic perspective that by far exceeds what is required for the grade of Pass

Selection of study resources, course literature and notes, etc. adapted to the specialisation as jazz musician is arrived at through discussion together with the instructing teacher, considering the student’s individual plan.
