Course Aim
The course participant should after having passed the course be able to
  • compare and contrast different philosophical and business administrative perspectives on strategic management
  • identify and contrast different strategies in relation to situational contingencies and management philosophies
  • understand when different strategies are applicable given situational contingencies

Strategic management is discussed at a business, corporate and network level in the course. Strategies are related to different perspectives on leadership and management. The core of the course concern how different strategies can influence the competitive advantage of organizations given certain situational contingencies.

The course consists of lectures and seminars. Course participants are expected to work with analyzes of thematical cases within the area of strategic management. Analyses are based on case information, course literature and research articles.  The course is carried out in English.

Active participation in lectures and seminars are mandatory. The course is examined through compulsory assignments, active discussion during lectures and through oral and written presentation.

The course can not be included in a degree together with the course O7007N eller O7003N (IEO034).
Students must register for the courses themselves, or contact ETS educational administration, not later than three days after the quarter commences. Failure to do so can result in the place being lost. This rule also applies to students with a guaranteed place.
