Course Aim
By the end of this course, the student shall be able to:

  • reflect systematically on contemporary ethical issues through analyzing them using different ethical theories,
  • give examples of and elementary accounts of central meta-ethical theories,
  • treat, with stringency and precision, an ethical issue in writing.

Contents
  • Central ethical concepts and distinctions
  • Applied ethics
  • Normative ethics
  • Value theory

Realization
Teaching consists of lectures and seminars.

Examination
A written exam constitute the examination for the course.

Remarks
Students must register for the courses themselves, or contact ETS educational administration eduets@ltu.se, not later than three days after the quarter commences. Failure to do so can result in the place being lost. This rule also applies to students with a guaranteed place.

The following courses (comprising 7.5 credits each) are recommended for deeper studies in philosophy: F0001S, F0002S, F0004S (mandatory) and F0005S (mandatory).

Since the contents of the course partly overlap the contents of the course Technology and Ethics (F0003S), it is recommended that the student takes only one of these courses.
