Entry requirements

General entry requirements, first cycle with excemption from English requirements. and two approved admissions tests. Basic knowledge of English is recommended. The first admission test consists of submitted samples of work of good quality in DVD format or electronic files. Applicants with approved samples of work will be called to a second admission test, which consists of an audition. Applicants who pass the audition will be ranked based on instrument.

Course Aim
This course aims to provide students with heightened knowledge and comprehension of their roll as an orchestra musician. Upon course completion, the student will be expected to demonstrate: 
• Good knowledge of classical orchestra repertoire and the skills to study this repertoire alone or in a group 
• Competence in musician interaction and cooperative listening 
• Competence in personal performance and artistic creation of classical music 
• Competence in intonation, timbre, balance, tone creation, rhythm, articulation, and other musical attributes essential to symphony orchestra musicianship 
• Adequate appreciation of scenic expression 

  • Rehearsals and concerts with Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra
  • Tuning rehearsals
  • Section Rehearsals
  • Chamber Music
  • Instrumental instruction
  • Lectures 

The course is given together with Stockholm Concert Hall Foundation/Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra in Stockholm Concert Hall where students are guided by orchestra members and take part during the course in normal concert productions

Evaluation is ongoing relative to the course description--see Contents. The course examination is held by a jury and the individual supervisors.
