Entry requirements

Bachelor of Arts in music or equivalent and two approved admission tests. Basic knowledge of English is recommended. The first admission test consists of submitted work samples of selected music in video format as electronic files. The selected music is presented on LTUs webpage. Applicants with approved work samples will be called to a second admission test, which consists of an audition.

The selection procedure is based on the second admission test. Applicants are placed in different selection groups depending on instrument.

Course Aim
This course aims to provide students with heightened knowledge and comprehension of their role as a chamber musician in contemporary music. Upon course completion, the student is expected to demonstrate: 
• Deepened knowledge of contemporary chamber music, and the skills to study this repertoire alone or in a group 
• Enhanced skills in musical interaction and cooperative listening 
• Enhanced skills in personal artistic expression and performance in contemporary music 
• Enhanced skills in ”extended techniques”, intonation, rhythm, articulation, micro tonality and other musical attributes, essential in contemporary music 
• Enhanced appreciation and understanding of scenic expression 
• Ability to co-operate in a creative way with composers and musicians

• Rehearsals and concerts  
• Chamber music in different constellations
• Close collaboration with composers
• Individual lessons   
• Lectures

The course is given together with Norrbottensmusiken and chamber ensemble Norrbotten NEO where students are guided by members of the ensemble. The students of the Academy forms an ensemble on their own, and they will participate in selected concert productions with Norrbotten NEO.

Students are evaluated according to the course description. The Final examination is held by a jury consisting of the examiner and the individual tutors.
