Entry requirements

In order to meet the general entry requirements for first cycle studies you must have successfully completed upper secondary education and documented skills in English language and at least 60 credits approved courses in business administration, quality management, marketing, industrial organization and industrial logistics: Principles of project- and industrial business management (R0005N) 7,5 credits or Industrial Management with a Sustainability Perspective (G0010N) 7,5 credits, Business management and organisation (E0006N) 7,5 credits, Principles of Marketing (M0004N) 7,5 credits, Management control (R0001N) 7,5 credits, Logistics 1 (T0002N) 7,5 credits, Quality Management, Introduction course (K0001N) 7,5 credits and Operations Management (T0008N) 7,5 credits, or equivalent knowledge.

Course Aim
The goal of the course is for the student to develop their ability to apply a holistic view on the present and future situation of a business organization.
After passing the course the student shall be able to:
- with support from relevant theory, problematize a business administrative problem applying a holistic view on a business organization
- analyse the need for internal and external information nessecary in order to develop proposals for problem solving
- carry out analysis on and present consequences of developed proposals for problem solving
- design, organise and control a development process aiming at solving business administrative problems
- perform oral and written reports on analysis and proposals to problem solving, with a holistic view on a business organisation

In a project team, students will work, in an integrative way and with a holistic view on a business organization, apply knowledge and abilities developed in previous courses (see prerequisites) in business administration, quality management and logistics.

Each course occasion´s language and form is stated and appear on the course page on Luleå University of Technology's website.
Lectures/lessons, seminars, supervision, team assignments, and case studies. The course contains project work in contact with business sector and guest lectures from the business sector.

If there is a decision on special educational support, in accordance with the Guideline Student's rights and obligations at Luleå University of Technology, an adapted or alternative form of examination can be provided.
Written reports is used to demonstrate students abilities; in problematizing applying relevant theories, analyzing the need for internal and external information, carrying out analysis on and present consequences of developed proposals. Via written tests students must demonstrate their ability to explain concepts and use of tools for design, organise and control of a development process aiming at solving business administrative problems. The student’s ability of designing, organising and controlling a development process aiming at solving business administrative problems is examined by weekly project reports and individual log books. The seminars examine the ability to orally present analyses and proposed problem solutions and further the ability to review and reflect on others analyses, problem solutions and predicted consequences.

Students must register for the courses themselves, or contact ETKS educational administration, not later than three days after the quarter commences. Failure to do so can result in the place being lost. This rule also applies to students with a guaranteed place.
