Entry requirements

In order to meet the general entry reguirements for first cycle studies you must have successfully completed upper secondary education and documented skills in English language. and Basic Course in Programming, for example ABL005 or analogous knowledge acquired through other courses or proved practical work.

Selection B

Course Aim
The aim of the course is to give the students ability to explain and describe basic concepts within database theory and relational database theory in particular. Students shall be able to construct databases (data modeling) from a depicted reality. Students shall also master basics in the SQL language and be able to construct simple applications that use some database manager. They shall also learn how to use some mapping tool with belonging database and be able to describe how a geographical component is used to manage spatial data in applications. Further more students shall develop skills in documenting their work according to established methodology.

• Embedded database management and SQL in some host language
• Transactions and concurrency
• Map management

Lectures, laboratory work. No compulsory lectures.

Assignment reports.
