Entry requirements

In order to meet the general entry requirements for first cycle studies you must have successfully completed upper secondary education and documented skills in English language and Basic courses in mathematics and statics.

The selection is based on 1-165 credits.

Course Aim
The student shall know how to determine forces, stresses and deformations in common structures and understand the basis for and know how to use common failure criteria. The student shall have the ability to analyze components and structures from a strength- perspective by methodically addressing and solving problems. The student shall have the ability to critically evaluate methods and results from an engineering perspective.

Definitions and basic concepts. Simple states of loading. Classification of materials. Constitutive relations. Torsion of shafts. Bending of beams, normal and shear stresses, deformations. Instability. General states of stress and strain. Yield theories. Fracture mechanics. Fatigue.

Lectures, tutorials and laborations.

Written exam and lab reports.

Cannot be included in the degree toghether with F0030T or M0032T.
