Selection

The selection is based on final school grades or Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test.



Course Aim
The student should, on completion of the course, be able to:
  • describe the anatomic structures and physiological processes of the body relating to the musculoskeletal system, respiration and circulation, the nervous system and the digestive system.
  • have knowledge of the functions of the endocrine system.
  • reflect on how the different organ systems interact with and influence one another in rest and in activity.
  • relate the knowledge in anatomy and physiology to practical health guidance.

Contents
  • The structure and function of the cell.
  • Musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology, functional anatomy.
  • The anatomy and physiology of respiration and circulation.
  • The anatomy and physiology of the digestive system.
  • The anatomy and physiology of the nervous system and the endocrine system.

Realization
Each course occasion´s language and form is stated and appear on the course page on Luleå University of Technology's website.
The course content is treated through introductory lectures, self-study and teacher-guided group study and oral presentation in groups. This course is part of the health guidance programme. The program has a consistent pedagogical strategy that stimulates an active learning where team development, career planning and the creation of a personal portfolio are recurrent elements in the courses. The group work aims to develop skills that can only be trained through interaction and the sharing of experience with others.

Examination
If there is a decision on special educational support, in accordance with the Guideline Student's rights and obligations at Luleå University of Technology, an adapted or alternative form of examination can be provided.
  • Objectives 1-2 are examined through written individual examination.
  • Objectives 3-4 are examined in writing and orally in groups.

Remarks
This is a first-cycle course. Study supervision is provided in the course room in Canvas.
