Selection

The selection is based on final school grades or Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test.



Course Aim
On completion of the course the student should:
  • Be able to describe the normal structure and function of the human body
  • Explain the importance of different nutrients and human nutritional requirements
  • Be able to palpate the front protruding bones and muscles in the human body
  • Adequately take care of an apparently lifeless individual.
This knowledge constitutes a basis for coming theoretical and practical courses and is a precondition for providing secure and safe care

Realization
Regular studies: Teaching methods vary, with individual studies, individual work and collaboration in groups, laboratory sessions, and lectures. Laboratory sessions are compulsory. Distance studies: Teaching is based on individual and group studies of the literature with reflection on the content. The studies are carried out by means of detailed aims and instructions as presented in the study guide. As support for individual studies, the student is offered lectures via the distance-bridging technology, Adobe Connect Pro. Other teaching material is distributed in LTU's LMS-system Canvas. Anatomy and Physiology can be practiced using digital quizzes in Canvas. During the campus weeks, the material studied will be deepened through laboratory sessions, lectures and discussions with the teachers. Resource times scheduled as needed. Laboratory sessions are compulsory.

Examination
The course is examined in the form of an individual written examination in anatomy/physiology and nutrition. CPR is examined in the form of a practical oral examination with the intention to offer a confident and patient safe care.
Alternative examination formats may be used.

Remarks
This is a first-cycle course. Study supervision is provided in the course room in Canvas. A Pass grade in this course constitutes the specific entry requirement for placement courses and the thesis.
