The selection is based on 1-165 credits.



Course Aim
The course objective is that the student will develop their understanding of the multi-professional healthcare organisation where the tasks are carried out by different registered professional groups. In particular, the student will develop an understanding of their own and others’ roles in the organisational context in which imaging and functional diagnostics, medical, nursing, radiation physics and technology work together. In addition, the student will develop their own leadership skills and ability to identify the need for improvements at individual, group and organisational level and make suggestions for action. At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
  • describe and explain concepts and theories of leadership, group processes, communication and conflict management
  • describe and explain how healthcare is organised, how responsibilities are divided between the various professional groups and the legislation and statutes governing this
  • identify and distinguish different factors in individuals, groups and organisations which constitute prerequisites or obstacles for the proper functioning of the organisation
  • demonstrate the ability to inform and educate by planning and giving a lecture
  • demonstrate the ability to identify their need for additional knowledge and to continue developing their skills

Realization
Each course occasion´s language and form is stated and appear on the course page on Luleå University of Technology's website.

During the course, participants work on developing their understanding of the multi-professional healthcare organisation and their own role in this. In connection with the various components of the course, introductory and inspiring lectures are offered by supervisors, specialist doctors or other medical professions. These lectures are followed by mandatory assignments which the course participants carry out individually or in groups. Examples are taken from daily work. The course seminars are exams as well as opportunities for students to learn from each other. For each mandatory event (lessons, seminars), the course participants must prepare by working on assignments individually or in groups.


Examination
If there is a decision on special educational support, in accordance with the Guideline Student's rights and obligations at Luleå University of Technology, an adapted or alternative form of examination can be provided.

The course is examined through mandatory components (lessons) and with a pass/pass with credit in written assignments and presentations at seminars.
