Entry requirements

In order to meet the general entry requirements for first cycle studies you must have successfully completed upper secondary education and documented skills in English language and The course assumes knowledge equivalent to the courses: M0085H Radiography, basic course I M0086H Radiography, basic course II M0050H Radiation Science and Radiological Modalities M0026H Medical Science: Anatomy and Physiology in position to Radiology M0029H Medical Science: Microbiology, infection control and infection disease M0067H Radigraphy Nursing Interventions in position radiography with Clinical Practice (replaces O0050H) M0070H General Pharmacology, Contrast Agents and Pharmaceutical Calculation (replaces M0052H) M0066H Radiography Nursing techniques in position radiography with Clinical Practice (replaces O0051H) M0088H Medical Science - in-depth studies in anatomy and pathology M0089H Radiography - imaging systems and methods M0064H Scientific specialization in radiography

Selection

The selection is based on 1-165 credits.



Course Aim
The student should, on completion of the course, based on a holistic and ethical approach, have basic knowledge about commonly occurring examinations such as CT, MRI, nuclear medicine and interventions as a basis for future courses, which includes:
  • Being able to apply methods for information, communication and receiving of patients and their next of kin in connection with advanced diagnostic examination
  • Describing appropriate measures to minimise or prevent pain/discomfort in the patient
  • Handling drugs and contrast agents, and informing about their effects and side effects and applying sterilisation treatment in connection with advanced diagnostics
  • Explaining and applying laws, statutes, regulations and local guidelines in connection with advanced diagnostics.
  • Formulating a research question from an evidence-based working method, searching, reviewing, assessing, collecting scientific studies and formulating scientifically and applying established writing rules and reference management
  • Identifying own needs for additional knowledge to develop skills

Realization
Teaching and learning takes place through own studies, study assignments, introductory and inspirational lectures in selected course sections to achieve the course's goals. Participation in seminars and laboratory work is mandatory. Other types of teaching may occur. Teaching and examinations are carried out via distance bridging technology or on campus.

The content of the course and its teaching methods are specifically aimed at the x-ray nursing profession.


Examination
The course is examined by report writing and seminars. To pass the course, attendance and active participation in seminars are also required. Alternative examinations may occur.

This is a first-cycle course. Study supervision is provided in the course room in Canvas.
