Entry requirements

In order to meet the general entry requirements for first cycle studies you must have successfully completed upper secondary education and documented skills in English language + Swedish upper secondary school courses Mathematics 2a/2b/2c , General Science 2, Social Studies 1b/1a1 +1a2 (specifik entry A14). Or: Swedish upper secondary school courses Mathematics B, General Science B, Social Studies A (specifik entry 16)

Selection

The selection is based on final school grades or Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test.



Course Aim

After having completed the course the student will be able to:

  • Explain basic immunology and microbiology.
  • Be familiar with activities for care hygiene and infection protection.
  • Apply basic hygiene practices.
  • Describe care-related infections and socially-spread infectious diseases of significance to the profession of radiology nurse.
  • Reflect on the risks to patients with impaired immune systems in order to be able to provide safe care.
  • Explain the significance of intersectional factors and the environment to individual health/illness.
  • Explain underlying aetiology, pathophysiology and symptoms of disease throughout the entire life span.
  • Describe the investigation and treatment of patients with suspected different diseases.
  • Identify differential diagnoses in relation to medical imaging diagnostics.

Realization

Teaching and learning take place through self-directed studies, study assignments, group discussions, laboratory work, simulations and seminars. Lectures are held within selected parts of the course. Participation in laboratory work and seminars is compulsory.


Examination

The course learning outcomes will be examined and assessed through individual and group assignments submitted, seminars and the examination. Achieving a Pass for the full course requires a Pass grade for all parts of the course and that all compulsory components have been completed. The course content and form of tuition are specifically targeted at the radiology nurse profession.


Remarks

This course must be passed before you can be admitted to the course, M0057H Radiography with specialisation in conventional x-ray. 


Transition terms

The programme syllabus applies from the spring semester 2020 for those students who are then admitted to the programme. The course coordinator and subject manager will approve  individual study plans for students who have been admitted to the previous programme syllabus and to resume studies after approved leave from studies in accordance with the current programme syllabus.

 

If a course is no longer provided or has undergone major changes, the students will be offered two opportunities for examination during the first year after the change has taken place and then once a year for another 2 years based on the official course syllabus that applied at registration.
 

Course M0096H is equivalent to course M0086H.
