Entry requirements

In order to meet the general entry requirements for first cycle studies you must have successfully completed upper secondary education and documented skills in English language + Swedish upper secondary school courses Mathematics 2a/2b/2c , General Science 2, Social Studies 1b/1a1 +1a2 (specifik entry A14). Or: Swedish upper secondary school courses Mathematics B, General Science B, Social Studies A (specifik entry 16)

Course Aim
The student should, on completion of the course, be able to:
  • describe and compare theories and models around the concept of health in order to analyse and reflect on its different importances for nursing
  • analyse persons' experiences of health in relation to age, sex and cultural aspects and be able to explain how health can be strengthened
  • describe quantitative research design and explain fundamental statistical concepts in relation to health in nursing
  • plan a dialogue that is based on a scientific approach
  • describe and explain the importance of teamwork
  • describe relevant laws and regulations

  • Age, gender and cultural perspectives of health
  • Ethics with a focus on respect for human differences in views on health

Teaching and learning take place through individual studies, study assignments, group discussions and seminars. Lectures are given in chosen course sections. Participation at seminars is compulsory.

The course is given for first-cycle studies in the nursing and radiology nursing programme. Study supervision is provided in the course room in Canvas. Passing this course constitutes specific entry requirements for placement courses. Passing this course constitutes specific entry requirements for the thesis in the Nursing programme.
