Course Aim
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
  • suggest, explain and characterise appropriate nursing interventions and medically indicated measures based on an evidence-based working method
  • describe and explain the organisation and management of work within emergency care
  • discuss and give examples of ethical positions in emergency care
  • describe how acute, seriously ill individuals and their families can experience their changed life situations
  • formulate relevant research issues
  • explain the scientific theoretical basis of research issues
  • critically review and evaluate research results and reports related to emergency care
  • apply current laws and regulations
  • document care and nursing
  • document scientifically

Realization
Teaching and learning take place through individual studies, study assignments, seminars and field studies. Participation in laboratory sessions, seminars and field studies is compulsory.

Examination
Written examination. Grading criteria for pass and pass with distinction are stated in the study guide

Remarks
This course is given for second-cycle studies within specialist training to become a nurse in ambulance care, anaesthetic nurse, intensive care nurse and operating room nurse. Study supervision is provided in the course room in Canvas. Passing this course constitutes specific entry requirements for the placement course O7012H, O7015H, O7018H and O7021.
