The selection is based on 20-285 credits



Course Aim
The main goals for the course are: 1) to be able to use common tools for processing of geo-spatial data, with special emphasis on geo-scientific data  2) to be able to use common tools for processing and visualisation in a 3D environment, with special emphasis on mining geology 3) to carry out basic processing of geophysical data

Contents
Basics of GIS
Map projections and coordinate systems
Basic geographic analysis
Interpolation and preparation of contour maps, elevation models
Downhole data in a GIS, databases for downhole data
Geographic data capture, remote sensing
Digital image processing with special emphasis on geophysical maps
Computer practicals in GIS with geological and geophysical data
Computer practicals with 3D modelling and 3D visualisation of geological data

Realization
The course consists of lectures and computer practicals

Examination
Approved exercise reports, written seminar assignment and short written test.
