Selection

The selection is based on 20-285 credits



Course Aim
The student should, on completion of the course, be able to:
  • systematically search scientific literature in electronic databases
  • critically review and evaluate scientific studies
  • formulate a scientific issue in nursing
  • apply research ethics principles and write a research ethics application
  • plan, carry out and document a scientific work in nursing in intensive care
  • critically review, argue for proposals for changes and assess other students' degree projects and defend his/her own degree project.

Contents
In the course, the student should plan, carry out and document an scientific work. Search and critical review of scientific literature in relevant databases for nursing is included, as well as collection, analysis and compilation of data. Practising being an opponent and respondent is also included in the course as well as applying knowledge of relevant research design and research ethics.

Realization
The course is carried out as an individual assignment with compulsory supervision. The supervisor is appointed by the department. Regular seminars that follow the work process are included in the course, attendance is compulsory at the seminars.

Examination
The degree project is examined in the form of a written report that is presented at a seminar with opponent and defence. Grading criteria for pass and pass with distinction are stated in the study guide.

Remarks
The course is given for second-cycle studies within specialist education with a specialisation in intensive care. Study supervision is provided in the course room in Canvas.
