The selection is based on 20-285 credits



Course Aim
The student should, on completion of the course, be able to:
  • argue for an ethical approach within the profession 
  • describe and analyse factors that promote health and prevent disease in pupils and their families from a gender and cultural perspective 
  • identify and analyse the importance of the physical, mental and social environment for pupils' health and learning 
  • describe and reflect on medical and nursing positions concerning vaccinations 
  • analyse and reflect on complex situations related to pupils in need of particular support 
  • identify the need for improvements for a secure and safe student health 
  • analyse the importance of leadership and cooperation with other professions 
  • apply qualitative research methods for data collection and analysis 
  • apply current laws and regulations within school health care/student health 
  • document scientifically 
  • reflect over documentation in care and nursing in school healthcare 
  • critically review and evaluate research results in school health care/student health 
  • reflect on his/her own self-knowledge and empathetic capability 
  • identify the need for additional knowledge for continuous skill development

Realization
Teaching and learning take place through individual studies, study assignments, seminars and directed studies within school health care/student health. Lectures are given in selected course sections.

Examination
Individual written examination. Seminar. Report. Completed study assignments
Grading criteria for pass and pass with distinction are stated in the study guide.

Remarks
The course is given for second-cycle studies within the program Specialist Nurse in Primary Health Care. Study supervision is provided in the course room in Canvas.
