Selection

The selection is based on 20-285 credits



Course Aim
The student should, on completion of the course:
  • argue for an ethical approach in the profession
  • analyse the need for and suggest interventions for sick individuals and their families in complex nursing situations in the home
  • describe and explain the importance of the home in long-term illness
  • identify the need for improvements for a safe and secure home care  
  • analyse the importance of leadership and cooperation with other professions in home care 
  • apply qualitative research methods for data collection and analysis
  • relate to current laws and regulations in home care
  • document scientifically 
  • critically review and evaluate research results in home care
  • reflect on his/her own self-knowledge and empathetic capability
  • identify the need for additional knowledge for continuous skill development

Realization
Teaching and learning take place through individual studies, study assignments, seminars and directed studies within home care. Lectures are given in selected course sections.

Grading criteria for pass and pass with distinction are stated in the study guide.

Remarks
The course is given for second-cycle studies within the program Specialist Nurse in Primary Health Care.
Study supervision is provided in the course room in Canvas.
