The selection is based on 20-285 credits



Course Aim
At the end of the course, the student will be able to independently:
  • argue for an ethical approach within the profession
  • describe and analyse the causes which promote health and prevent ill health in pupils and their families based on gender and cultural aspects
  • identify and analyse the importance of the physical, mental and social environment for pupils’ health and learning
  • describe and reflect on medical and nursing observations regarding vaccinations
  • analyse and reflect on complex situations related to pupils in need of special support
  • identify needs for improvement for safe and secure pupil health
  • identify needs for leadership and cooperation in cross-profession teams
  • apply qualitative research methods for data collection and analysis
  • account for the current legislation and statutes in pupil health
  • document scientifically
  • reflect on documentation of care and nursing within pupil health
  • critically examine and evaluate research results within pupil health
  • reflect on their self knowledge and empathic ability
  • identify needs for further knowledge to continuously develop their skills

Realization
Teaching and learning take place through our own studies, application of theoretical knowledge and placements. Placements takes place under supervision. Lectures will be given in the chosen sections of the course. Attendance is mandatory in laboratory experiments, seminars and placements

Assessment of professional skills

Grade criteria are specified in the study guide. The placement can only be changed once. If there are special reasons, a further transfer may be granted. For special reasons, refer to the regulations of the Swedish National Agency for Higher Education, HSVFS 1999:1.

The course is held at advanced level.
 
This course, containing components with a placement, is subject to Special Regulations for Placements according to the prefect decision of the Department of Health Sciences, Luleå University of Technology.
