Entry requirements

In order to meet the general entry requirements for first cycle studies you must have successfully completed upper secondary education and documented skills in English language and knowledge, skills and abilities in business administration comparable to the goals and expected outcomes of the course Principles of project- and industrial business management (R0005N) 7,5 credits/alternatively Industrial Management with a Sustainability Perspective (G0010N) 7,5 credits.

Course Aim
Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to design management control systems for organizations. The student should also be able to analyze the relationships between the design of the control system and behavioural consequences thereof.

This course covers traditional and modern theories and tools for management control.

Each course occasion´s language and form is stated and appear on the course page on Luleå University of Technology's website.
Lectures and seminars. In the lectures the theoretical content is studied, to later be applied when solving the extensive case studies which form the core of the course. When working on the case studies, the students work in groups on their own with some tutoring from the teachers.

If there is a decision on special educational support, in accordance with the Guideline Student's rights and obligations at Luleå University of Technology, an adapted or alternative form of examination can be provided.
Compulsory case study and participation in lectures will award the student with the grade 3. An additional exam offers the student a chance to achieve 4 or 5. Written exams are graded U, 3, 4, or 5. Case studies are awarded the grade pass (3) or fail (U), where an active participation in the seminar is required to achieve a pass.

Students must register for the courses themselves, or contact ETS educational administration, not later than three days after the quarter commences. Failure to do so can result in the place being lost. This rule also applies to students with a guaranteed place.
Due to similar content, the course can not be included in a degree together with the courses R0016N or other courses with similar content.
