
Space Exploration for beginners

Reach for the stars! This module aims to look up from Earth into space You will familiarize yourself with spaceflight technologies and strategies for planetary exploration. You will get to know the tools and methods used in planetary observations.
In a series of case studies, you will apply your knowledge to objects as close as the Moon to those as far away as exoplanets orbiting other stars.
The module will be delivered through a series of lectures, seminars and hands-on practical sessions. You will interact with teaching staff with substantial experience in space science and technology who have participated in numerous international space missions and who are actively involved in ongoing and future space projects. The module will equip you with the skills needed to interpret planetary observations and explore space by working on the next generation of space missions. It will familiarize you with the important elements of space missions like launch vehicles, spacecraft and its necessary subsystems, as well as the ground segment to design, test and operate planetary space probes and its scientific payloads.
