Entry requirements

In order to meet the general entry requirements for first cycle studies you must have successfully completed upper secondary education and documented skills in English language and T0019T Manufacturing Methods or equivalent.

Selection

The selection is based on 1-165 credits.



Course Aim

After completing the course the students shall be able to:

1.      Knowledge and understanding

  • describe the demands on modern production management,
  • describe methods and strategies for management of manufacturing systems,
  • describe basic concepts within production and lean production,
  • describe work laws and roles related to employer employers relations,

2.      Skill and ability

  • apply methods for change management for production system,
  • plan design and layout of production systems,
  • evaluate in which situations different management strategies are applicable, 
  • present, written and oral, results from production system development,

3.      Valuation and attitude

  • reflect and valuate own contributes in laboratory and project work.

Contents
The manufacturing system; function and layout. Production philosophies and strategies that can be applied in manufacturing, lean production The use of computer simulation to support operative and strategic decision making. Developing and improving the workplace, leadership. Basic labour law and negotiation.

Realization
Each course occasion´s language and form is stated and appear on the course page on Luleå University of Technology's website.
Lectures, group excersises, laboratory exercises, group project. The lab.\'s and exercises and project are compulsory.

Examination
If there is a decision on special educational support, in accordance with the Guideline Student's rights and obligations at Luleå University of Technology, an adapted or alternative form of examination can be provided.
Sucessful completion of the group exercises, laboratory exercises and project will give a pass grade. The grade can be improved by taking the written exam at the end of the course.

Remarks
. This course cannot be counted towards a degree in conjunction with MPR028.
