Entry requirements

In order to meet the general entry requirements for first cycle studies you must have successfully completed upper secondary education and documented skills in English language and Basic knowledge of physics, mathematics and material/polymer such as Physics 1-3 F0004T-F0006T, Calculus, Linear Algebra and Calculus, Linear Algebra and Differential Equations M0029M-M0031M, Material Science and Engineering T0004T or equivalent.

The selection is based on 1-165 credits.

Course Aim
Divided into 3 categories below, you as a student after successfully completed the course:

1. Knowledge and Understanding
  • Acquired the necessary theoretical knowledge to keep up with future developments in the field of engineering technology manufacturing.
  • Understand and describe the principle of the common engineering technical methods, their possibilities and limitations.
2. Skills and Abilities
  • Be able to choose manufacturing process regarding to function, geometry, material and manufacturing volume of the component
3. Values and attitude
  • Have been given the opportunity to develop your capacity for teamwork and collaboration in groups.

Metal cutting (Overview, nomenclature symbols). Milling, turning, drilling and grinding.
Casting. Electrical Discharge Machining, Electrical Discharge Wire Cutting
Plastic machining like sheet metal forming, rolling, forging and extrusion.
Laser processing regarding the processes cutting, welding and surface treatment.
Manufacturing methods for thermoplastics
Process planning and programming of NC machines.

Lectures, seminars, group and individual exercises, laboratory exercises, group project. The lab's and exercises and project are compulsory.

Written examination with individual grades. Successful completion of the lab\'s and exercises.

This course cannot be included in degree with T0013T, MPR042, MPB001 and MTM061.
