The students shall have basic knowledge in mathematics, physics and geology as well as mining and rock engineering.

Course Aim

The course goal is that the students should be able to describe the theoretical foundations for and practically use tools and methods used for mine planning and mine design.

You will be able to
-apply analytical and computer based tools for production planning.
-consider technical and theoretical issues regarding production planning within mining projects. 


Basic operations research methods

Mine planning and production planning, through e.g. computer based planning tools, for underground and open pit operations

Classroom lectures and exercises. Computer based exercises. Assignments and a study visit.


Test on operations research methods

Mandatory study visit

Assignments computer based mine design and mine planning.
