You need to register for each course that you take. You can do this via My LTU > Register/apply > Registration during the first tree days of each quarter unless otherwise notified. Remember that when the first three days of the quarter have ended, the reserve admissions process begins. This means that you may lose you place to a person on the reserve list if there are reserves and you have failed to register for the course during the registration period. If you have any questions concerning course registration, please contact the Student Reception Desk via the contact form below.
This applies to programme students only. In order to make sure you keep your place on the programme, you are required to personally register on Registration Day at the place you will be studying. Remember to bring your ID.
I have special reasons to delay my studies
If you are admitted to a course or programme and are not able to start your studies that term you can apply for deferement of studies. Permission of deferment of studies is usually granted for one year and no longer than 18 months unless there are special circumstances that require longer time.
Valid reasons for deferment. The reasons for deferral of studies may entail social, medical or other particular circumstances e.g care of child, military service - including basic military education and time-limited trial perios aervice in the Armed Forces, student union assignment or denied leave of absence for studies from your employer. Deferment of studies cannot be granted for reasons concerning housing/accomodation or your current economic situation.
Applying for deferment. You must submit proof of the reasons for your deferment. Certified copies of official documents that support the circumstances of your case must be submitted. Send the documents to firstname.lastname@example.org or: Luleå University of Technology, Registrar, SE-971 87 Luleå, SWEDEN. Before you apply for deferment you must accept your offer to the course or programme otherwise you will loose your place and cannot be granted deferment. You need to apply for deferment well before the compulsory registrationday. If you are not granted deferment and do not register in the given time you will lose your place on the course/programme.
If you are granted deferment. If you are granted deferment you need to save the decision. You need to apply for the course or programme again for the term you are going to start your studies and submit the decision to your application on Universityadmissions.se. The granted deferment only applies for the same course or programme, on the same campus and in the same form of study. When you are admitted to the course or programme again you need to accept the offer and also register so you wont loose your spot.
If you are not granted deferment. If you want to appeal the decision this shall be done in writing. State which decision, how you want the decision to be changed and why you want it to be changed. Your appeal needs to have arrived at the University no later than three weeks from the day you were notified of the decision. Sign the document and state your name, personal number, postal adress and phone number. Mark the appeal "To the Universitys board of appeal" and send it to email@example.com or Luleå University of Technology, Registrar, SE-971 87 Luleå, SWEDEN.
