Music production and songwriting

Studies in the field of Music Production and Songwriting are aimed at those who are interested in creating their own music and want to develop their artistic profile as a songwriter/music producer. The training rests on a broad popular musical foundation, where all different styles and expressions are welcome.

The focus is on your own musical profile, but you will also participate in study activities that are shared with other students within the program. In the training, you are given the opportunity to develop your own musical expression, and you get tools to create and produce music in different styles and forms. The School of Music's well-equipped studios and other premises are at your disposal around the clock. You work partly with your own projects, partly through collaborations with musicians from the Academy of Music's other specializations. During the training, you will meet professional teachers and guest lecturers with broad technical and musical competence in songwriting/composition and music production.

Working with music often means being involved in several phases of a production. Today's technology development leads to new artistic and methodical possibilities, which means challenges for musicians, songwriters/composers and music producers. Our education gives you tools in, among other things, composition/songwriting, music production, recording technology, digital sound processing, synth programming, chordal instruments, singing, project management and more, as well as through your own music production projects with an artistic and scientific connection. You can also supplement your education profile through the optional space in the education and with extra courses. The training contains three main parts that run in parallel:

1. Musical/music-making profile (composition/songwriting, music production, recording technology, production history, digital sound processing, synth programming, creative projects, digital notation, arranging, own profiling/own projects, showcase)

2. The musical craft (music theory and ptich perception, industry knowledge, chordal instruments, singing, project management, finance, secondary instruments)

3. Artistic knowledge, the research process and thesis

The education gives you a good foundation for further studies. Our teachers have solid pedagogical experience and several are active both nationally and internationally as musicians, songwriters, arrangers and producers.
