Beach Volleyball with heat from Facebook

Published: 25 May 2012

Some exciting student projects were presented on 25 May at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural resources engineering.

Innovative Construction is the final course in engineering programs Architecture and Civil engineering. Students in this course studied both urban and building construction and civil construction and production. In this course, which has now been held for the second year, students work in sharp projects in collaboration with companies and municipalities. Helena Johnsson, Martin Nilsson and Sofia Lidelöw, Department of Structural Engineering and production, has been responsible for this year's course.

Real projects, real customers

The real point of the course development project construction it is that we work with sharp student projects in the course. This creates a link between LTU and our external collaboration partners appreciated by students as businesses/municipalities.

Two of this Year´s projects:

Suggestions for a beach volleyball venue in Porsön heated by waste heat from the Facebook server rooms (Client: Lule Volle).

Design of a recreation area in Lusthusbacken, Piteå, and visualization of the planned new construction in the area (Client: Piteå).

3D visualizations

The presentations included 3D visualizations developed in programs such as 3D Studio Max.

Student Adam Sjödin says: - We have been four teams that worked on this project, two of the groups have focused on the design of community facility in the area, one group has looked at stormwater management in the area, and our group have visualized the area and proposals for community facility.
