"There are many new construction sites at the university and we thought that our exhibited minerals needed a more modern display", says Örjan Johansson, Head of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, where the exhibition is displayed permanently in the F-building.
The new exhibition is a bit more open and airy with seating. The wall-mounted display cases are still to be replaced and fitted with spotlights. One of these will have the theme of color and form, and the other for minerals applications.
"Mineral are best viewed in natural light, but in our arctic climate with long dark winters a little artificial light will be helpful as well", says Tobias Kampmann, PhD Student in Ore Geology, who has also worked with the new exhibition.
The winning design concept has partly been reworked because the location of the exhibition was changed after the design competition.
