Internship evening - an event to promote contact between students and industry

Published: 6 December 2019

On the 28th of November, the annual event for prospective interns was organized to establish contact between students and representatives from industry, but also to highlight the importance of the internship for the students.

"The internship is something that we at Luleå University of Technology are proud to offer to our students. The half-year internship is unique in its kind and a well-established element that is appreciated by both students and the business community", says Johan Larsson, university lecturer as well as responsible for internships at Luleå University of Technology.

The half-year internship is something that the university offers its students on the master programs Civil engineering and Architecture since 1977. The event for future interns was organized in collaboration between Johan Larsson and the Civil Engineers on Tour (CET), which is a travel association for the graduating class of Civil engineering, with the purpose of conducting a study trip.

- It is inspiring that so many companies are interested in offering internships for our students, a direct acknowledgment that it is appreciated by the industry. It is a unique opportunity for both students and companies to make contact and get to know each other before a possible employment, says Johan Larsson.

More than 70 students and more than 20 company representatives from 7 companies and organizations participated in the event. During the evening, both company presentations, mingles and the opportunity for individual interviews with the companies were offered. Participants from clients (Trafikverket, Luleå municipality), consultants (Mitta AB, Norconsult), as well as suppliers (Serneke, BDX, In3prenör) were represented during the event.
