Name: Petronella Skoglund
Age: 20 years
Hometown: Gothenburg
Programme: Master Programme in Architectural Engineering

Why did you choose to study The Master Programme in Architectural Engineering?

Throughout my upbringing I have had a very close relationship with my grandfather. He is a trained builder and architect, as was his father. So I'm the third generation with creativity and technology as interests, which feels very fun. My great interest is, besides buildings, also decor with its color and shape. So I chose the program to be able to get as broad a foundation as possible in order to develop my interests in the future.

How do you like the city of Luleå?

To be honest, I was very nervous and hesitant to move these 125 miles up to Norrbotten. I never regretted that I dared to take the step to leave the security of my hometown, because now I have got one to my hometown. For me, Luleå has an exotic climate, a professional education as well as kind and helpful residents.

What plans do you have after your studies?

I would like to work on sustainable construction and climate issues. Being able to build climate neutral but also functional buildings where people will be able to live for many years. Another goal is to be able to devote myself to design and design in the future.

Do you have any advice for future students here at the university?

I think it is important not to choose education based on the geographical location of its university. Choose education according to where you want to be in 5-10 years, because after graduation you can always move to another city, if you want.
