Published: 24 January 2020

The French newspaper Le Figaro annually ranks all higher French education and this year the program Civil Engineering International Materials Engineering (EEIGM) ranked in the top in terms of material education.

The program, which is given at Luleå University of Technology in collaboration with universities in France, Spain and Germany, provides both Swedish and French civil engineering degrees as well as good opportunities for an international career.

For 2020, the categories "international reputation", "alumni's average salary" and "acceptance rating" were weighted extra high in the ranking. The magazine considers it exceptional that just over 45 percent of all graduating students work outside France within one year of graduation, a figure that is comparatively high.

– Great fun both for the University of France and for us that they received this recognition. It is a good grade also on our education, says Lennart Wallström, professor and head of the department of materials science.

In addition to Luleå University of Technology, the Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine in Nancy, France, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona Spain and the Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken, Germany, participated in the collaboration.
