Why have you chosen to sponsor the programme, and why is this education important to you?
Luleå University of Technology is an important recruiting base for SSAB Luleå. Employees with a high level of technical expertise in environmental and process technology are crucial to continuing the development of sustainable iron and steel production. We wish to collaborate with the Sustainable Process Engineering programme as a sponsor, and to offer students summer jobs, internships and thesis work opportunities.
What is the job market like right now?
In a normal year, we externally recruit between three and five employees with a background in higher education, of which between one and three are civil engineers.
What do you believe it will look like in the future - say, 5-10 years from now?
I believe that we will increase our external recruitment, because we have a high average age among our employees, and the expertise of many of our employees will change in the next five to ten years.
