The internship offers an opportunity for our students

Published: 17 December 2020

The half-year internship offered to our master students within the programmes in Architectural Engineering and Civil engineering is something that makes our students both unique and sought after in the labor market.

Luleå University of Technology has offered its students in the programme Civil engineering this internship since 1997. In the last decade, this has also become a welcome feature for students in the programme Architectural Engineering. The benefits of conducting the internship are many and several students mention the internship as a valuable way to link their theoretical knowledge to practice. Establishing valuable contacts with potential prospective employers is also something that is highlighted by many students as a great benefit.

“The half-year internship is something that makes our students unique and therefore something we must cherish”, says Johan Larsson, internship manager and researcher at the Division of Industrialized and Sustainable Construction.

Because this internship is established within the industry, there are great opportunities to find attractive companies and authorities to carry out their internship period in. This, which for many students is a welcome feature during the education, often offers students to try out different roles and activities within the chosen company. To show the breadth and benefits of doing the internship, feel free to take part of some of our students who have completed their internship in the links below, (movies are in Swedish).

“Many of the employers I meet value the internship highly and often emphasize that it is a way for them to meet their future employees, says Johan Larsson.

If you become interested and want to know more about the internship or have questions regarding our education programmes in general, contact me or one of my colleagues and we will be happy to tell you more.
