6 month internship – Master Programme of Civil Engineering

Luleå University of Technology offers its students in the Master Programme of Civil Engineering to pause for a six-month internship usually from June to December in their 4th year. The internship is an optional part of the education that both the industry and LTU strongly recommend.

The purpose of the internship is to increase students' awareness and understanding of how the education is used in professional work. Students who completed the internship is usually very satisfied and believes that it has contributed to increase the motivation and commitment to the continued education but also for future work. Many of the companies and agencies that receive interns is a driving force for development of the internship as they see it as a chance to create a good relationship with the university and future potential employees.

Actors that take on interns includes municipalities and government agencies, architects and consulting firms, contractors, mining companies, material suppliers and public and private property managers. Internship can thus be made within a variety of actors and work can include a wide range of tasks from design and project planning at an office to e.g. management and inspection at construction sites.
