This year, the price has gone to two graduate students at the Master of Science in Civil Engineering Programme at Luleå University of Technology: Jakob Gunnarsson and Eric Lindell. The thesis is titled: Structures of steel fiber concrete - Test and dimensioning according to new Swedish standard.
Jakob and Eric has studied a new standard for the design and testing of steel fiber concrete, performed extensive tests on beams as they poured themselves. They were then shown with a few examples how this can be applied to structures subject to bending and shear. Moreover, to crown it all, they have written was the draft article for publication in the international journal.
– We at Structural Engineering and Complab are very proud of this work and a clear market for concrete research and testing at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering in Luleå. For example, the new standard for steel fiber concrete provide several future testing assignment, says Mats Emborg, Professor at Lulea Univeristy of Technology.
The prize will be awarded at the Clarion Sign, Stockholm, October 7 during a ceremony at the event. At the same time awarded the Swedish Concrete Award - the annual "Swedish Concrete Nobel Prize" - in the year to the famous Swiss researcher Karen Scrivener, Lausanne.
