At the end of September 2021, the first Distinguished University Teachers and Recognised University Teachers at Luleå University of Technology were appointed. A total of 18 people have been awarded the awards.

"This feels really good, I feel very honored, I work to improve education. Phillip Tretten also received the university's pedagogical award during this academic ceremony: Distinguished contributions to the benefit of education at the undergraduate and advanced level.

Operation and Maintenance Engineering deals with the development of methodologies, models and tools to ensure high system dependability and efficient and effective maintenance processes for both new and existing systems.

The jury's motivation for nominating Phillip Tretten

Phillip is deeply committed and leads educational development at SBN by focusing on the CDIO standards. He actively participates in program development courses and conferences, to promote development in line with CDIO at the department. Phillip has worked both directly and indirectly to promote good learning environments. A couple of examples of this are that he meets with the student union every month to find out at an early stage how the learning environment can be improved. He has also initiated concrete transformations of the learning environment to enable innovative flexible learning environments. Phillip works with continuous improvement of SBN's training program. He has trained training leaders in quality assurance of training programs, and has over the past four years conducted workshops regarding evaluation. Phillip's commitment lays the foundation for a development that combines classroom teaching and other methods of lifelong learning.
