"The future development we are facing in northern Sweden now feels incredibly exciting"

Published: 26 August 2021

Wilma Brännmark from Kalix is studying the Bachelor Programme in Maintenance Engineering at Luleå University of Technology.

Why did you choose to study this program?

My interest in technology has always been great, this in combination with professional life up here in the north, the choice felt quite obvious. To be able to work in industry with the future development we are facing in northern Sweden now feels incredibly exciting and very fun.

What are you doing now in the programme?

Now I will start reading my third and final year on the program where we are facing a course in human factors and risks, which feels incredibly important for future working life. Then project courses and degree projects are around the corner, which will be incredibly fun.

What was it that attracted You to Luleå?

I like Norrbotten and grew up in Kalix myself, this made the choice quite easy for me. This in combination with Luleå University of Technology feels relevant and competent considering the education I have chosen.

What do you want to work with in the future?

This summer I have worked as a project coordinator at GISAB where I got to see the reality behind all the knowledge we have learned so far in the education. To be involved in the development of the heavy industry, to be involved in the design and project management of larger projects is what attracts me the most at present.
