Published: 2 December 2019

Filip Ivarsson, a student in the Master Programme in Exploration and Environmental Geosciences, has received Svemin's Jan Kempe award in the fields of Ore Geology and Exploration in 2019.

"It is a great honor to win this year's award. It's nice when one's work gets noticed in this way and it motivates one to fight on", says Filip Ivarsson.

Filip Ivarsson received the award for the MSc thesis Characterization of Fe rich rich and fluorapatite-bearing magnetite occurrences at the Zn mine Zn-Pb-Ag and Cu deposit, Bergslagen, Sweden, which was made within the SIP Strim project Strat Zn, a research project at Luleå University of Technology which was conducted in collaboration with Boliden Mineral AB, Zinkgruvan Mining AB and Lovisagruvan AB. The project investigated the genesis of stratiform Zn-Pb-Ag mineralizations in Bergslagen. The thesis was supervised by Nils Jansson, Senior Lecturer and Researcher in Ore Geology at Luleå University of Technology.

The Award Ceremony was held at Svemin's autumn meeting.
