Scholarships an prizes for employees
Listed below are scholarships and prizes for University staff.
The peer-nominated teaching award
Each year, Luleå University of Technology presents a teaching award to recognize and celebrate outstanding contributions to education. The award is peer-nominated – by teachers, for teachers – and aims to highlight excellent examples of pedagogy and learning.
Theme for 2025: Innovative Education
In 2025, we wish to spotlight educators who courageously and creatively develop their teaching practices. We are now halfway through our work toward Vision 2030, where innovative education is a central focus. In the context of the peer-nominated teaching award, innovative education may include, for example:
- Applying new pedagogical methods
- Using digital tools or AI in innovative ways to support learning
- Creating interdisciplinary or real-world learning environments
- Promoting greater accessibility and inclusion to benefit student learning
How do I nominate someone?
In your nomination, describe how the proposed educator has contributed to innovative education. What was changed, and what impact did it have on student learning? Both small and large initiatives are welcome, the key is that they challenge traditional ways of thinking about teaching.
Please note: The initiative does not need to have been carried out within the last year. Work conducted in previous years may also be nominated if it remains relevant.
To help you write your nomination, you may consider the following questions:
- What has the colleague done that is innovative?
- How has it been implemented in practice?
- Why was the change made – what need or purpose was behind it?
- What impact has it had on students (e.g., learning or engagement)?
- How innovative is it in its context – within the subject area, department, or the university as a whole?
