Visit LTU as a researcher
Luleå University of Technology welcomes academic guests all year round. Academic guests are defined as staff or students from other universities who plan to stay less than 365 days with us.
The process below applies to academic guests who do not receive a salary from the LTU, but who may receive other forms of compensation/ remuneration in limited circumstances. The following process also applies to all types of unpaid internships for students (e.g. Erasmus internships).
If you are an academic guest planning to receive a salary from the University, please consult the HR department on the process that applies to you.
The process of incoming academic guests is managed by each Department.
1) If you are interested in coming to LTU and are looking for a host, you will have to arrange this yourself. Please contact our academic staff under the links below.
- Department of Social Sciences, Technology and Arts
- Department of Health, Education and Technology
- Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering
- Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering
- Department of Engineering Sciences and Mathematics
2) Please note that our academic staff has no obligation to accept your stay with us.
3) If you are approved by a staff member (host) for your stay at LTU, there are some documents that you will need to sign or submit. We will need to receive your most updated CV, and if you are not coming to us as an Erasmus trainee, you will be asked to sign a Visiting Researcher Agreement. Please see the template below. If you are an Erasmus trainee, the Learning agreement or Traineeship agreement is sufficient.
4) Once we have received all the necessary documents from your side, we will start processing them. This process may take some time. Once we have processed them, we will sign all the documents from our side and, if necessary, issue an invitation letter for you to apply for a visitor visa with the Swedish Migration Board.
5) All visitors to LTU from outside Sweden are automatically insured by us through Kammarkollegiet.
