The Rector's Research Infrastructure Council: June 9 2026

The meeting addressed several ongoing issues related to research infrastructure at LTU, including developments within HPC2N and NAISS, with a particular focus on research data management, storage solutions and future computing needs. The council also followed up the mapping of analytical equipment at LTU and discussed how the results can be used to support the future development of research infrastructures. An update on LUMIA was presented, highlighting the continued development of the infrastructure, new laboratory environments and ongoing efforts to increase utilisation and coordination across laboratories.

In addition, a report was given from the MAX IV roadshow and the continued process for MCE Lab to become a university-level research infrastructure was discussed.

Under other matters, the council was informed about an initiative for a potential new research infrastructure within the biorefinery area.
