CEO and space doctor are Alumni of the Year 2018
They are both civil engineers from Luleå University of Technology, with careers as "space doctor" and CEO of an engineering and design company with offices in over 30 countries. Now Ella Carlsson Sjöberg and Jonas Gustavsson have been named Alumni of the Year at their old university.
The Alumni of the Year is an award that is awarded to people who have been students at Luleå University of Technology and who, after graduation, have achieved particularly great success in their careers.
The former students who this year receive the honorable award are Ella Carlsson Sjöberg, Director and Deputy Director of the Institute of Space Physics, and Jonas Gustavsson, President and CEO of ÅF.
- "It is a great honor for me to receive this prestigious award. It feels extremely fun and inspiring! Luleå University of Technology has a special place in my heart, a place where I made friends for life and a platform that helped me to realize my space dreams, says space physicist Ella Carlsson Sjöberg, who is often called "Sweden's Mars Doctor".
- I am honoured to be named Alumnus of the Year and proud to have studied at Luleå University of Technology. I had a very good study time. It is also fun to see that the university has continued to develop so positively since I studied there, says Jonas Gustavsson, who leads ÅF, a global company with 10,000 employees and offices in over 30 countries.
In the jury that appoints the Alumni of the Year, there are representatives from Luleå University of Technology, Luleå Student Union, Teknologkåren at Luleå University of Technology and LTU Business.
