About the project

Small-scale farmers are essential for local food production, rural livelihoods, and regional preparedness. However, many food-producing SMEs in Norrbotten face challenges related to profitability, market visibility, limited business development support, and difficulties reaching consumers. At the same time, recent crises have highlighted the importance of strengthening local food production and increasing food self-sufficiency.

The NORFARM project aims to support small-scale farmers and food-producing SMEs by identifying their most urgent needs and exploring practical opportunities for business growth. Together with farmers, SMEs, and regional stakeholders, the project investigates strategies that can strengthen competitiveness, increase visibility, and contribute to a more resilient local food system.
