Internships for Industrial design students

As a student at the direct master programme Industrial Design, the student has the opportunity to do a 10-month internship during their education. The internship is a voluntary meritorious element for the student and is highly recommended by both the business community and Luleå University of Technology.

The internship gives the student an opportunity to try out industrial and engineering work.

What does the client/company get?

• A driven trainee who becomes part of the company's operations for 10 months.
• They can become full-time employees after their training.
• Promote your company - The trainee can make your company known to potential job seekers.
• The trainee develops/can help your employees improve their management skills.
• The content of the traineeship is adapted to your and your company's wishes and conditions, after communication with the responsible training manager for Technical Design.

How does it work?

1. Agree with the student on the internship, remuneration and content.
2. After agreement, the responsible education manager must approve the internship
3. The student fills in the traineeship application form and sends it to Student Services or the ETKS education administrators (eduets@ltu.se). They will also help you with information on how to take a break from studies during an academic year.
4. Completing the traineeship
5. After the traineeship, the company issues a written certificate which the student submits to the education administrators at ETKS. The traineeship will then appear in the student's diploma.
   

What is required of the client?

• The company is a manufacturing company or consulting firm that has suitable engineering design projects (production or product development projects).
• There must be a clear link between the student's intended work tasks during the internship and the education,
• The student will have the opportunity to carry out at least one engineering project during your internship.
• A contact person and supervisor. These need to be familiar with the role and genuinely interested in the assignment.
