In Advanced Prototyping , you will develop your ability to work with design as a strategic and identity-building process. You will learn to understand and interpret a company's design profile through form and value analysis, and translate these into visual concepts and physical prototypes.
The course is structured around a realistic design project inspired by industrial development processes, where you work in teams to take a product from early sketches to a finished, high-quality prototype. You will apply methods for form analysis, form development from sketches, clay modelling, and final form definition in CAD. The focus is on creating realistic models where function, aesthetics, and usability meet. After defining the form, you will use modern tools and machines, such as CNC milling, 3D printing, and vacuum forming, to produce a high-quality physical prototype. The course concludes with a professional presentation and exhibition of your work.
By exploring how design expression, values, and brand identity can be manifested in physical products, you will train to create prototypes that not only test function and fit, but also communicate something about the company behind them.
