Pre-Production and Production Methodologies for Games and Film
30 credits, course, bachelor's level, W0055E
Autumn 2026
Do you have a creative idea you want to turn into a full project? How do you turn an idea into a project that’s ready for production?
This course is for students with a background in the creative industries — games, film, or animation who want to take their practice to the next level. The focus is on the creative and practical steps of pre-production: developing concepts, creating prototypes, and exploring research and development.
This is the first of two courses that together form a full academic year at Skellefteå campus. You’ll meet peers with similar experience, connect with industry partners, and explore opportunities for creative collaborations. In this first step, the focus is on laying the groundwork for later projects by building a big-picture understanding of how creative productions come together: planning, production management, entrepreneurship, distribution, and more. You’ll test ideas, evaluate their potential, and explore the market context they fit into. By the end, you’ll have a stronger sense of direction for your project, whether it’s a solo piece, a collaborative production, or an industry partnership.
